Getting started
How do I play?
Swipe your finger across touching letter blocks to trace a word - up, down, left or right (no diagonals, but you can turn corners). Lift your finger and any real word of three letters or more scores automatically. Scored blocks burst and the board falls and refills. When a coloured block touches others of the same colour, the whole cluster explodes for bonus points.
What are pages?
Pages are how you score each level (up to three per level). Collect enough pages to open the next sealed chapter of a book. You can replay earlier levels any time to earn more.
What’s the difference between pages and coins?
Pages unlock story chapters and can’t be bought - you earn them by playing. Coins are the in-game currency for boosters and cosmetics, earned through play and daily rewards, or bought as optional coin packs.
Duels
How do I duel someone?
Both players need SORTS on their device, in the same room. Swipe down from The Shelf to the Composing Room, start a duel, and the other phone will find it over the local wireless connection - no account, no invite link and no internet needed. A countdown runs on both screens, then you race the same board for sixty seconds.
Nothing is showing up.
Make sure both devices have Wi-Fi and Bluetooth switched on (they’re used to find each other locally, even with no network), that SORTS has permission under Settings → Privacy & Security → Local Network, and that you’re within a few metres of each other.
Do I have to pay for duels?
No. Duels are free for everyone, with nothing behind a purchase.
Purchases and the Pressroom Pass
How do I restore my purchases?
Open The Desk (settings) and tap Restore Purchases. Your purchases are tied to your Apple Account, so they’ll return on any device signed in with it.
How do I manage or cancel the Pressroom Pass?
The Pressroom Pass is an auto-renewing subscription managed by Apple, available monthly or annually. To view, change or cancel it: open the Settings app on your device, tap your name at the top, then Subscriptions, then SORTS. Cancelling stops future renewals; you keep access until the current period ends.
Guilds and friends
How do I join a guild?
Tap Guild Hall and choose Join. You can enter a friend’s guild code, or tap Find an open guild to be matched with a public guild straight away - you don’t need to know anyone to join one.
How do guilds work?
Everyone in a guild pools their weekly word scores toward a shared goal. Hit the goal to earn rewards and climb the weekly Guild League. Scores reset every Monday. The Guild Library also collects the best words anyone in your guild has ever found.
Reporting a guild or player
Guild names are moderated, and you can report or block other players from the guild screen. To report abuse, use the in-app report option or email mikesoft98@gmail.com.
Account and data
Do I need an account?
No sign-up is required. Social features (guilds, leaderboards, friends) use Apple Game Center and iCloud, so signing in to those on your device lets friends see your name, character and scores.
Privacy and data deletion
SORTS shows no ads and uses no third-party tracking. See our Privacy Policy for what’s handled and how. To request a copy or deletion of your player-profile data, email mikesoft98@gmail.com.
Troubleshooting
Progress or guild not syncing - make sure you’re signed in to iCloud and Game Center in your device Settings, then relaunch.
The board feels stuck - use Free Shuffle for a fresh board, or wait a moment and the board will glow a word you can trace.
